Description
亀甲の扇 -Fan of Kikkō- This piece has a bright and dignified presence, with an orderly kikkō pattern in gold and vermilion set against a soft ivory ground. The kikkō motif is a hexagonal pattern derived from the shape of a turtle’s shell, and has long been cherished in Japanese decorative art as an auspicious symbol of longevity, stability, and enduring happiness. By layering fan-like three-dimensional folds over this refined geometric design, I shaped the piece so that light movement and softness emerge within its formal beauty. The clear, near-white ground, the woven gold, and the touches of vermilion bring a poised brightness to the space, creating an elegant and uplifting impression.
