龍 - Ryu(Dragon) This one-of-a-kind piece expresses the powerful energy and dynamic movement of a dragon rising freely upward. In Japanese decorative art, the dragon has long been regarded as an auspicious motif symbolizing strength, protection, prosperity, and upward momentum as it ascends toward the heavens. By giving three-dimensional form to the dragon’s body depicted on a men’s kaku-obi and adding an obijime cord that also suggests the look of scales, I shaped the piece to convey the force of a dragon soaring into the sky. Set against a dignified black ground, the motif and flowing structure bring a striking presence to the space, and I hope it becomes a piece that gently lifts the spirit each time it catches your eye. 龍がのびやかに昇っていく姿を表現した、力強さと躍動感のある一点です。龍は古くから、力や守護、繁栄、そして天へ昇ることによる飛躍や運気上昇を象徴する吉祥文様として親しまれてきました。男性用の角帯に描かれた龍の体を立体的に見せ、うろこのようにも見える帯締めを添えることで、空へ向かって飛翔していくような勢いを感じられるかたちに仕上げました。凛とした黒地に映える文様と動きのある造形が、お部屋に印象的な存在感をもたらし、ふと目に入るたびに気持ちが前を向くような一枚になれたらうれしいです。
